Innovation is essential to tackling the world’s pressing water and sanitation challenges. The 6th Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Congress in Bonn will showcase breakthrough solutions and ideas driving progress across the sector. Yet one key question remains: how can we accelerate innovation and deliver better, faster results?
Research and practice point to a clear answer – through a more diverse workforce. Evidence shows that diversity fosters creativity and leads to more inclusive and effective solutions. However, the global water and sanitation workforce remains predominantly male, with women representing only about 20 per cent.
As part of the Stronger Together! Coalition, GWOPA is committed to promoting workforce diversity and strengthening the role of women professionals in the sector. The Coalition brings together eight women’s networks and six organisational allies working globally to ensure that women are empowered as leaders and decision-makers.
At this year’s Congress, two in-person events will provide opportunities for women professionals to connect, learn and share experiences:
- Women’s Mingle and Networking Event – Tuesday, 28 October, 18:00 CEST – a space to meet and exchange with inspiring peers. Register here.
- Peer Mentoring Workshop: Building Resilience in Times of Change and Uncertainty – Wednesday, 29 October, 8:00–9:00 CEST – a session designed to strengthen personal and professional resilience. Register here.
Promoting gender equality requires collective action. The Friends of Stronger Together! initiative invites all individuals – regardless of gender – to support and advance the Coalition’s mission. The Friends network, Coalition members and interested participants will meet informally at the German Booth on Wednesday, 29 October, 10:30–11:00 CEST for coffee and conversation. No registration is required.
