A networking and discussion platform
The Global WOPs Congress is the main event on water operators’ partnerships organized by the Global Water Operators’ Alliance. It is a the networking and discussion platform to GWOPA members to meet and exchange on topics relevant to water operators, to strengthen networks and partnerships.
The GWOPA flagship events was back into in-person meetings and hold also a virutal element for the interested stakeholders who could not attend in person. With over 500 in-person participants from 58 countries and over 1200 online participants, the participants represented 440 organizations and operators. The 2023 edition has been the biggest WOPs Congress in the series of this biannual event.
On 18-29 Ocotober, the 4th Global WOPs Congress was held online.
Congress sessions took stock of at-the-time water and sanitation operators’ issues, showcase good approaches, and offer recommendations for how operators can tackle challenges through peer-to-peer partnerships.
Each theme was addressed through a combination of roundtables, dialogues, and sessions based on offer and demand received through the call.
From the 16-18 September, 400 operators, representatives from civil society, knowledge institutes, international organizations and labour unions gathered in Barcelona for this 3rd #WOPCongress. The congress was organized by GWOPA/UN-Habitat
Report of the II Congress of GWOPA held in Barcelona in 2013, in which the main themes treated were finance of WOPs, their results, learning approaches, capacity development for non-revenue water management, water workers, and risk reduction, besides an overview on the regional WOP platforms work, recent performance and future goals.
