6.3Improved water quality, reduced untreated wastewater and increased recycling & safe reuse
Project description
The aim of this WOP is to improve water quality management since PDAM currently faces water quality issues at the raw water source, and Ranhill holds a vast experience in providing safer quality water supply to nearly three million residents in the state of Johor in Malaysia.
Project main objectives
The focus of this project between RANHILL and PDAM TK is on improving the treatment process of one of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Pontianak and to prepare the water safety plan that can later be replicated to other WTPs in Indonesia.
Most significant results
Expected Results
• Improved water services delivery through better water quality for at
least 20,000 urban residents in Kota Pontianak.
• Adoption and replication of at least two good practices each by
PDAM TK to improve their operational efficiencies in providing safe
water supply services; best practices could be on water sampling
procedures, chemical dosing operations, etc.
• Increased capacity of PDAM TK to manage water quality
• Increased capacities for at least 60 PDAM staff from across West
Kalimantan province to improve water quality management.
• Better management of the distribution system in Kota Pontianak
• Documented Water Safety Plan.
