6.4Increased water-use efficiency and sustainable withdrawals and supply of freshwater
Project description
This WOP aim to ensure safe water quality is maintained for its customers through improved water quality management and monitoring operations
Project main objectives
build capacity of KHWSSC to ensure safe water quality is maintained for its customers through improved water quality management and monitoring operations;
help KHWSSC in optimizing its energy use;
promote replication of innovations introduced through the WOP for other interested water companies in coordination with VWSA;
introduce VWSA to the WOP development and implementation process

Most significant results
Expected Outcomes:
1) Improved water supply quality for at least 20,000 people in Nha Trang from lowered turbidity and increased chlorine residual
2) KHWSSC undertaking locally appropriate treatment system optimization best practices from Macao Water in chemical feeding, filtration and disinfection processes
3) KHWSSC developing and implementing procedures to maintain adequate chlorine residual in the distribution network with Macao Water guidance
4)KHWSSC improving the SCADA system design and operations by including installation of on-line monitoring units (water quality, electrical/chemical usage) and communications between WTPs and the HQ
5) Introduction of energy saving measures to reduce carbon emissions by 160 tom (5% reduction in annual consumption)
6) Partners contributing resources to implement twinning activities (i.e. KHWSSC investing in capital works and Macao Water through providing in-kind services for staff time)
