The 4th European Water Operators’ Partnerships (WOPs) Enablers’ Dialogue will convene utilities, development agencies, government institutions and financial actors to explore the enabling conditions – legal, financial and institutional – that allow solidarity-based Water Operators’ Partnerships to flourish.
On 17 June, the event will focus on European experiences and policy frameworks supporting WOPs. Participants will examine effective financing and legal mechanisms, discuss country-level approaches, and identify opportunities to engage in Phase 2 of the European Union Water Operators’ Partnerships (EU-WOP) Programme. Sessions will include presentations of a new report, national case studies and a forward-looking dialogue on scaling European utility engagement.
On 18 June, a dedicated Spanish WOP Day will highlight the role of Spanish public water and sanitation operators in international cooperation, particularly across Latin America. Through roundtables, peer exchanges and strategy sessions – held in Spanish – participants will explore how to strengthen the participation of Spanish actors in WOPs, including by identifying enablers, addressing barriers, and mobilising interest in upcoming partnership opportunities.
Co-organized by the Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA)/UN-Habitat, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) through the Spanish Cooperation Fund for Water and Sanitation (FCAS), Aqua Publica Europea and the Seville Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Company (EMASESA).
To advance solidarity-based WOPs, GWOPA aims to scale up regional dialogues that convene the institutions and frameworks essential to enabling effective peer support.
