The Global Water Operators' Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA), in collaboration with the IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre and with the support of Water For People, is preparing a global report on water and sanitation utilities to be launched this year.
This report will explore how utilities contribute to the local realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Water and sanitation utilities play a pivotal role in achieving multiple SDGs beyond just SDG 6.1 and 6.2, influencing areas such as economy, health, climate resilience, and broader societal outcomes.
About the report
- The report will present an overview of water and sanitation service providers worldwide:
- Latest statistics, governance structures, financing mechanisms, and performance metrics
- Key challenges faced by the utilities
- Summarized research findings and case studies of utilities accelerating SDG progress
- Best financial, technical, ecological and social innovations from practice
Survey details
To ensure this report is inclusive and data-driven, we are conducting a global survey to capture the opinions and perceptions of water and sanitation utilities. We welcome responses not only from utilities but also from individuals and organizations that support them. Respondents can specify whether they are answering for a specific utility or from a broader national perspective. The insights provided from the survey will directly inform the global report.
